The base is engraved names of sixteen famous artists and scientists (Darwin, Pasteur, Cuvier, Helmholtz, Raphael, Titian, Morse, and Humboldt. This production run, numbered 2000 - 3000, was limited to 1000 units. This clock is numbered 2412.
The 10-inch polished brass bezel opens with the original "shield" hinge and push-button latch design. This opens to access the 8.5-inch silvered dial featuring raised gold Arabic hour numerals and the millennium logo. The segmented minute ring and the Chelsea name are engraved on the front surface.
The Chelsea Clock Co. made high-quality movements designed to run for eight days once fully wound. This clock is a house strike for the corresponding hour, the sound is just like a ships bell clock.
It is engraved on the back, see pic.
This clock was found in an attic in Florida, (omg). We took it to our local horologist and had it serviced, the movement has been cleaned and lubricated and tested to ensure its performance.
