1955 Kentucky Derby Glass

A mint julep glass issued for the 1955 Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Derby is arguably the most famous horse race in the world, having been run at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky every year since 1875 The Mint Julep was adopted as the official cocktail of the race in the 1930's after the end of Prohibition Commemorative glasses typically list all prior winners before the current year; the last listed on this glass is "Determine" who won in 1954. The 1955 winner was "Swaps" ridden by Bill Shoemaker. Design is green and gold (yellow) on frosted glass. In addition to the Derby's past winners, this glass also lists the five fastest runnings to that point in history
